11. Voltorb and Electrode

personally like the prospect of having a Pokemon look like a Pokeball, also alluding to the fact that it was probably Voltorb that inspired the design of a Pokeball. Nonetheless, Voltorb’s a pretty damn lazy design. Take a Pokeball, put a frown on it. And they also gave it few weird attacks. But quite frankly it was hilarious to watch a red-white orb flying through the air to attack when I watched the anime. But see, Voltorb isn’t as big a problem. The real deal is Electrode.

I imagine the creative design team at Nintendo went something like this –
“We need to evolve Voltorb.”
“Flip it.”
“Here’s your bag of money.”

They didn’t bother with ANYTHING at all. It’d Voltorb upside down and a mouth. Even its attacks are the same and as crappy. And it randomly explodes for no reason. Bump or irritate either of the Pokemon and boom! Talk about Hydrogen as a volatile energy producing substitute.
