Ganon has been the ultimate big bad in Zelda for as long as the series has existed, but it’s hard to think of a game in the franchise that portrayed him as well as The Wind Waker did. Sure, his actions led to widespread destruction, but his motivations weren’t really driven out of malice- all Ganondorf wanted was to lead the Gerudo, his people, out of the harsh desert, where they’d been forced to live in harsh conditions for years and years. Ganondorf’s quest to rule Hyrule may have led to him doing some devastating stuff, but he only wanted to do it so that he could give his people a better life.
