Gears of War 3 featured new elements that made it stand out from its predecessors. After the events of the second game, humanity struggled to bring itself back from near extinction. The game allowed for up to four player co-op online and or two-player split-screen. They also introduced a new mode known as Beast Mode that allowed the player to control a beast fighting COG soldiers until they can evolve into a bigger, badder beast. The game was praised for its voice acting, visuals and music and over three million copies were solid in its opening week.
