SAMUS ARAN (METROID)
Metroid protagonist Samus Aran isn’t exactly what you would call a fleshed out character, but somehow she still has a rather bizarre backstory. When she was just three years old, her home planet was attacked by space pirates, led by series antagonist Ridley. The attack killed a great many people, including her parents, and she was among the only survivors. Samus was then taken in by the Chozos, a super-intelligent bird-like alien species. She was brought up by these weird bird-people, who also gave her the iconic armour she wears, which was something Chozo warriors used to wear into battle. Yeah, pretty outlandish stuff.
