Who could forget Gacha games? While titles like Fate Grand Order have been around for a few years, Nintendo of all companies has also been involved. Fire Emblem Heroes has an assortment of waifus to collect while Mario Kart Tour outright offers unique drivers. Similar to loot boxes, they require spending currency – which is obtained through real money – for different types of items. Gacha games can fit into different types. Step-up Gacha increases the chances for getting rare items with each roll. Box Gacha contains a set of items with disclosed drop rates (somewhat similar to loot boxes). Discounted Gacha allows for rolling at discounted prices. Suffice to say, if you’re someone who feels a strong urge to collect everything or has a gambling problem, stay the heck away from Gacha games.
