Blacklisting Former Employees
Another Nikkei report revealed that if you left Konami, you were effectively blacklisted. Some sources noted that other developers were warned about taking on former Konami employees. One source bluntly said “If you leave the company, you cannot rely on Konami’s name to land a job.” There’s also that bit about Konami director Kimihiko Higashio rejecting the application of Kojima Productions employees for ITS Kenpo (of which Higashio happens to be the chairman), preventing them from accessing health insurance. Reportedly, this was done at the behest of Konami. After all, why would it possibly want its former employees to access such luxuries as health insurance?
