Red and Blue (who were adapted to Ash and Gary in the anime) were the main characters in the first Pokemon games, Red/Blue. They returned in Gold/Silver, allowing us to see what they’d been up to during the three years that separated Gold/Silver from the original games, and the game allowed us to take them on and beat them in battle. But they’ve never been heard from since (unless you count the remakes). That changes in Sun/Moon, which see fully grown Red and Blue returning. What are they doing in Alola? What have they been up to all this time? This is fan service of the highest order, and we could not be happier about it.
