Button Mashing in Fighting Games
There are two instincts when tackling a fighting game for the first time: Learning the controls and mechanics or wildly mashing buttons. Say what you will, but sometimes, the latter can work out – because if you don’t know what you’re going to do, how can your opponent? Modern Control options are a nice alternative, allowing one to learn the various mechanics and have some combos on standby. However, the allure of button-mashing and watching magic unfold is hard to deny.
