MELEE COMBAT

Melee combat has never been one of Bethesda’s strengths- just look at The Elder Scrolls. It feels all floaty and unresponsive- thankfully, given the fact that Fallout’s combat relies more on weapons such as guns, the franchise hasn’t had to worry about that in its entire history under Bethesda. Sure, the melee combat in Fallout hasn’t really been good, but it’s also never been a focus, and as such, people just haven’t cared as much about the fact that it isn’t good. We’re hoping that with Fallout 76, Bethesda will work on making improvements to the melee aspect of the game’s combat, make it feel more weighty and more satisfying. It’s an ancillary issue, of course, and definitely nowhere near the top of the things we want to see in the game, but we do want to see these improvements regardless.
