As the name suggests, the star of Fallout 76 is going to be Vault 76, which holds quite a unique position in the lore of the series. Unlike most Vaults built by Vault-Tech, Vault 76 wasn’t built for experimental purposes, and it was supposed to be opened 20 years after the end of the Great War. However, it seems like neither those things panned out. If Fallout has taught us anything, it’s that some shady stuff went on behind the scenes in Vault 76 either way, while the fact that its opening up in 2102, five years after its originally intended opening date, means that something else went wrong as well. We expect (and hope) Fallout 76 will be answering all these questions (and more).
