The villainous cast of the Cobra Unit is top tier in Metal Gear cannon and makes the first mission of Big Boss really as special as it is. But even between the big personalities that come with a maniac that shoots hornets from his mouth and a pyromaniac spaceman, The Sorrow stands out. His ghostly, low tones and lamentations of the sadness that battle brings as he taunts the, implied to be dead, Naked Snake while sending the souls of those he killed on his mission against him, all form one of the most memorable moment in a game full of them.
