Invitation to a Party – Hitman 2: Silent Assassin
Codename 47 may have started the series but Hitman 2: Silent Assassin is really where its gameplay excelled. We started to see more options in missions that rewarded stealth, discretion and clever thinking, like Invitation to a Party. The objective is to kill General Vladimir Zhupikov in the embassy during a party and steal a briefcase from his safe. So one option could involve disguising yourself as a waiter, obtaining a bottle of poison, and spiked his drink. A Spetsnaz agent is also on the loose and if you obtain the briefcase first, he’ll attempt to ambush you and take it back. The sheer number of twists, turns and emergent moments offered by this mission are simply amazing, especially considering this is a 2002 game.
