Game Dev Tycoon is the sort of game that you just have to play, no matter what style of games you usually enjoy. It’s also the sort of game that once you start playing, you can’t stop. Which why the way it punishes people pirating it is so genius and appropriately painful. Rather than telling people outright that they’re pirating the game, the game actually lets you continue playing, lulling you into thinking that nothing is wrong. But as your company makes more games, in-game pirates start pirating everything your simulated video game company makes, until you’re forcibly put out of business, and a message informs you that people didn’t buy your games because of piracy, and you could no longer keep your doors open. Let that be a lesson to you, pirates.
