THE OUTER WORLDS
Outer Wilds isn’t the only major game with “Outer” in its name to release release this year. Obsidian Entertainment’s The Outer Worlds brought the developer’s known skills with writing, humour, choice mechanics, and more to players not too long ago. It might not be an open world game, and as far as RPGs in the modern age go, it’s actually a pretty compact experience. You do visit multiple locations though, and more often than not they present player with some pretty large and open areas to explore. Thankfully, exploring them is almost always a blast, thanks not only to the game’s inherent strengths with quest variety and writing, but also due to some excellent art and visual design.
