Silent Hill 2 Remake
More than enough has been said about how Bloober Team scored with the visuals, atmosphere, and overall gameplay of Silent Hill 2 remake. However, it also deserves praise for a relatively underrated reason: Furthering the theory that the events are a spiral and not just a loop.
While changes from the original, including the overall means of escaping Toluca Prison, don’t affect the narrative, they do further a long-running theory that James Sunderland never really made it out of Silent Hill. Instead, he’s reliving the same loop over and over, or in the case of the remake, plunging ever further into the abyss. With secrets lending credence to this theory but never outright confirming, it feels like a proper tribute to long-time fans.
