2. Sega Saturn
Pressured to follow on the success of the Genesis, Sega plagued the Saturn from day one due to its obscure architecture. Though vastly ahead of its time, the dual CPU architecture and square based polygon rendering meant that the Saturn was a nightmare to develop for, putting off many third party developers. Things went from bad to worse when, in an attempt to beat the Playstation to market, Sega launched the Saturn secretly months ahead of its planned release. This wouldn't have been so bad if they actually told third party developers, all of whom assumed they had another few months to finish off their launch games. This made many third party developers gun shy about working with Sega again, an issue that would lead to their eventual exit from the hardware sector.
