Visual Concepts’ MLB 2K series isn’t what you’d call the worst sports series out there – an honour which currently belongs to NBA Live 14 – but 2K Sports has announced that it will not be renewing the series for 2014. This comes after the publisher removed all references to the series on its website.

In a statement to Polygon, 2K Sport stated that, “We have decided not to renew our MLB 2K series for 2014. We are very proud of the achievements made by the MLB 2K team and look forward to their contributions to our future titles, including NBA 2K — our industry’s #1 rated and #1 selling basketball franchise.”

Regardless of what you think, there’s no denying that the MLB series hasn’t seen the greatest commercial success. But what are your thoughts on the decision to not renew it for this year? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, along with whether you believe 2K Sports will change it’s mind at some point.
