Considering just how long ago the original Halo came out, it’s understandable that some gamers might be staying away from the newest releases specifically because they don’t understand and haven’t followed the stories. 343 Industries apparently thinks Halo Wars 2 is the perfect game for that kind of gamer, saying it’s the perfect game to jump into the series.
Dan Ayoub sat down with an interview with Windows Central where he talked about why this is the game that people should pick up and jump into. “Halo Wars 2 has a really self-contained story. What’s great about it is that it assumes no knowledge of the extended fiction or Halo games whatsoever. We assume you haven’t played Halo Wars and you’ve never played a Halo game before, and you can see we’ve set the game around that, with the crew of Spirit of Fire set asleep for twenty-eight years.”
Ayoub added the players are able to really see the action unfold anew through the characters eyes. Those characters “have missed pretty much everything and the game is unfolding through their eyes.” Halo Wars 2 is due out February 21, 2017.
