3DS sells gangbusters, and so does Monster Hunter 3G

Posted By | On 13th, Dec. 2011

Nintendo should be pretty pleased with 3DS’ performance, as it has sold as much as it did on launch in Japan. There is a reason for these sales – Monster Hunter 3G.

Famitsu reports that Monster Hunter 3G sold more than 471k units in 2 days. Capcom knew this franchise was huge, and put it on a system that was going to be on the stands during the holidays.

This also boosted the 3DS sales. It sold 371k, which is a lot more compared to what it launched earlier.

3DS has a smaller install base this time around, so Monster Hunter is expected to not post gigantic numbers like the it did on the PSP. But we may see it do decently in a few years.

Monster Hunter 4 will be available on the 3DS as well, and it is exclusive to the sytem. So expect some massive damage to the charts.

Thanks, Andriasang.
