6 Game Wars That Are Getting On Our Nerves

Halo vs Killzone

Ever since the first Killzone game was proclaimed as Sony’s “Halo Killer”, people have blown the Halo vs Killzone “war” out of imaginable proportions. Every time a new Halo or Killzone game released, comparisons are drawn- screenshot comparisons, video features, articles and shootouts on which one is better and if Halo has fallen from its grace/ Killzone has overtake Halo as the ultimate shooter franchise. And frankly, these arguments are getting on our nerves now.

Who cares which one is better? Just play them both and enjoy. And for those who only own an Xbox 360 and a PS3, your rants against the opposite game won’t make it any less good. So stop playing “sour grapes”, and appreciate the rivals, for once. Your game isn’t the only one that can be good. It’s not a trademark, you know? Quality, I mean.

God of War vs Devil May Cry

God of War has dominated the “bloody, brutal action adventure” ever since the first game came out in 2005, but Devil May Cry, along with other franchises, has given the series stiff competition. Agreed, the God of War vs Devil May Cry competition hasn’t been taken to as high a level as the other entries on this list, but sometimes, the arguments can get very senseless.

Like God of War having shallow and button mashing combat, and so, DMC becomes better. No doubt Devil May Cry is a great game, but God of War isn’t a bad series either. The combat may be simple and not as complex as DMC’s but it’s no damp squib. And really, Devil May Cry hasn’t even been that active a franchise in the last few years. Absurd, really.

Battlefield vs Call of Duty


You didn’t think we’d forget to mention this in a list like this, did you? The Battlefield 3 vs Modern Warfare 3 argument has been raging through the internet these days, and honestly, it’s gone a little overboard. At first, seeing EA taking jabs at Call of Duty and the fans going all berserk was a lot of fun. But soon, it got ugly. EA’s now been attacking Activision when the latter has (surprisingly) kept quiet. Fans have started taking this “battle” between the two way too seriously. It’s all just really pointless.

Both the games have a very different approach. Yes, they are both in the same genre and in direct competition with each other, having similar premises. But one focuses on realism and authenticity, while one focuses on just pure fun. Kind of like FIFA vs PES. And in such a case, we should probably just let the games speak for themselves. The fans should shut up, and most importantly, the publishers should keep it quiet.
