Grand Theft Auto as a series is no stranger to controversy. Controversy, in fact, has almost been the franchise’s bread-and-butter for abut as long as it’s been around. GTA 5 also sparked the ire of many back when it first launched what feels like forever ago. One scene in particular saw Trevor torturing a character in the most cruel and sadistic fashion imagineable- which made many players uncomfortable enough as it is, especially given GTA’s typical slapstick tone. Add to that the fact that players were very much active participants in what Trevor was doing on the screen, from picking which torture tool to use to then having to actually use it, and it’s not hard to see why many may have found it a bit excessive.
