Namco Badai: Demon’s Souls Selling Very Well

Posted By | On 03rd, Aug. 2010

UK really got a raw deal as far as last year’s breakthrough PS3 exclusive RPG, Demon’s Souls, was concerned. Whereas North America got its hands on the title courtsey of Atlus, Europe was glanced over.

Thankfully, publishers Namco Bandai saw the financial potential of the title, and released it in the UK. To those who worried that the game might be too niche or too hardcore to appeal to British audiences, never fret- the game is selling per expectations, say Namco Bandai.

For the uninitiated, the game still isn’t available there in the proper sense of the word- a much costlier Black Phantom Edition has been released, with a standard edition release due later this week.

“I can’t give you a number, but what I mean by an ‘amazing success’ is that all the stock we built of the Black Phantom Edition has sold out (apart from dribs and drabs),” said Lee Kirton, marketing and PR manager for Namco Bandai.

“For a game that’s been out a long time overseas we believe it to be a success. Reviews scores and coverage have been amazing.

“We haven’t done hundreds of thousands of units, but we’ve been pleased.”

So are we. All good games deserve to sell, and Demon’s Soul most of all. Here’s to a sequel sometime soon.
