PS4, Xbox 720 and Wii U next-gen news and rumour roundup

It’s time for another round-up of next-gen news and rumours from this week. Things are becoming hectic due to Wii U’s launch nearing a bit closer but it seems like EU folks will have to wait a bit before getting their hands on the Wii U.

“With just four months before the holiday season opens, people familiar with the situation claim that the Wii U release date will fall to early December across Europe, missing the November launch window initially intended,” wrote CVG.

“Key to the issue is the manufacturing of the Wii U GamePad; a complex controller that features a 6.2 inch touchscreen display, a front-facing camera, motion-sensing and Near field communication technologies, its own power supply and the promise that the device will be completely wireless.”

Nintendo has not announced any released yet for the system and is expected to do it soon. The system is rumoured to launch in November in NA.

Next up is an interesting opinion piece on Wii U daily:

“There has been a heated debate back and forth regarding the Wii U’s performance. Is it more powerful than current gen consoles? How powerful? Nintendo never gets into those kinds of discussions, opting instead to point out the unique features of the Wii U. But in today’s gaming world, pretty graphics and high performance sells,” read the site.

“To a point. Which begs the questions: 1) does it matter how powerful the Wii U is, and 2) how powerful is it? The short answers to those questions are, 1) Yes, it does matter how powerful the Wii U is, and 2) It’s powerful enough.”

Microsoft accidentally confirms the next Xbox, which then turns out to be a “misquote”.

“We just decided it was time to do something new and to bring the best from each of those and put them together and release it right in time for the new wave of products that we could have coming out with Windows 8, with the new version of Office, with the new Windows phone, and the new Xbox.”

More Wii U news: Apparently it can do 1080p without breaking a sweat.

“The developer revealed that its team has been working with the Wii U console for a few months, and its “coders found it easier than expected” to make Wii U games. Two Tribes thinks that the Wii U is ‘awesome’ and claims that it can display games at “1080p without breaking a sweat.”

Not much PS4 news and rumours this week, so stay tuned to GB.
