In news that will surprise literally nobody Microsoft has finally confirmed what we’ve known for ages, a the next Xbox is in development, making it the second home console in the 8th Generation.
The confirmation wasn’t exactly direct, revealing the “new Xbox” through disclosure that its recently revamping of Hotmail/Outlook was in preparation for the “wave of new products” due to launch in the not-so-distant future.
Brian Hall, General Manager for WIndows told The Verge, “We’ve had Hotmail and operated Hotmail for about sixteen years. We obviously have Exchange and Outlook that people use at work.
“We just decided it was time to do something new and to bring the best from each of those and put them together and release it right in time for the new wave of products that we could have coming out with Windows 8, with the new version of Office, with the new Windows phone, and the new Xbox.”
So this is far from the formalised press releases and big swanky conferences, but it’s not like this announcement is a surprise to anybody, merely confirming the widely believed as true.
No release date has yet been confirmed, nor even an official name for the next Xbox, all we know is that Windows 8 is due out this October.
