Pokemon Black and White Get A Perfect Score From Famitsu

So, uh, I’ve been generally unexcited and unimpressed by the upcoming fifth installments of the Pokemon series, the rather unimaginatively named Pokemon Black and White. It’s not that I’m tired of the same Pokemon formula that has been a staple of the games for over four mainline installments and two official remakes now, no. Rather, I was apprehensive about the numerous changes and new shifts the series seemed to be taking.

Apparently, I am also an asshole. Oh, and I was wrong.

Pokemon Black and White have received a perfect score from coveted Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu. The magazine seldom hands out a 40/40- there have been only fourteen games in the magazine’s history so far to have achieved this legendary status. While it could be argued that the frequency of perfect scores has increased of late (seven of the fourteen so far have been awarded this generation), all the games that have received the 40 score have been great, high quality games.

Pokemon Black and White are the fifteenth to join this elite club.

Apparently, the reviewers at Famitsu are stunned  by the innovation present in this reboot, the new graphics, the music, the online mode, everything. Whereas more details will be made available later, as of now, the score is enough to keep us going.

I cannot wait for these games now. The hype train has started again.

Pokemon Black and White launch in Japan later this month. In the west, they will be releasing in March next year. Both games are exclusive to the Nintendo DS, and feature some additional DSi exclusive functionality.
