FIFA 13 Reviews: Another hit from EA Sports

Viva la Football.

Hey, guess what? FIFA 13 is a massive critical success. The last installment from EA Sports broke all sales record for EA and also managed to do well critically, but it looks like FIFA 13 is going to do even better.

The pre-orders in the US were incredible with the game registering 42% YoY increase for day 1 sales. FIFA 13 sold 353,000 in North America on launch day on the Xbox 360 and PS3, which is a 42 per cent year-on-year increase over FIFA 12. Players across NA played 1.4 million online games on day 1, which was a 35 per cent year on year increase, we reported.

“We’re thrilled that fans throughout North America have embraced FIFA Soccer 13 in such a big way,” said Andrew Wilson, Executive Vice President of EA Sports. “North Americans appreciate a great-playing game and their level of engagement with our game is helping to drive the sport’s popularity in the United States.”

We will be posting our review soon, but check out some of the prominent ones we’ve compiled below, to give you an idea of how good the game is. Let us know what you think in the comments section below.

Verge:

The infusion of real-life soccer developments throughout the game makes the experience come alive; you feel like you’re part of a vibrant, passionate community of soccer fans. FIFA 13′s mechanics bring that human element to the fore, and its connected experiences highlight our shared global identity as participants in the enjoyment of the beautiful game.

Joystiq:

I can say without hesitation that FIFA 13 has topped FIFA 12 while maintaining every improvement that it introduced. The inclusion of surprisingly awesome Kinect features and extra in-game rewards offers new reasons to play and builds upon last year’s solid foundation. Finally, the complete dribbling mechanics and First Touch Control dive into the gameplay equivalent of the ‘uncanny valley,’ offering an unrivaled sense of realism and unparalleled excitement. FIFA 13 is, in a word, superb.

Gamespot:

FIFA Soccer 13 isn’t all that different from last year’s outing, but it still remains the most in-depth, entertaining, and compelling football game out there.

Guardian:

Now PES is approaching its best again, and Fifa 13 needed to be at its stylish zenith to hold on to the top spot. I think it is, and it does. Just. And I think this is because it is not really a pure simulation anymore; within its interconnecting systems of adventure, collection, unlocking and upgrading, Fifa 13 has become something else. Something far more interesting and rewarding.
