Dan Houser – GTA Hot Coffee controversy was upsetting for the company

GTA: San Andreas was one of the biggest games of the PS2, and some people found some things that shouldn’t have been found. In fact part of the blame goes to Rockstar for putting it there, and having learned their lesson by paying a massive sum.

Dan Houser says that the entire controversy was draining and upsetting for the Rockstar team. The Hot Coffee mini game completely changed the sex mini games and made them more realistic, and you can probably find that on YouTube if you search. This is also one of the reasons why Rockstar is known as a cool studio, they don’t give a shit about anyone but when it comes to paying fines even a studio like them would understandably come under pressure.

“It was draining and upsetting, a tough time in the company. The massive social decay that we were supposed to induce hasn’t happened. So in that regard, a lot of those debates that used to go on, they’re not such a big deal now,” he told The Guardian.

“We never felt that we were being attacked for the content, we were being attacked for the medium, which felt a little unfair. If all of this stuff had been put into a book or a movie, people wouldn’t have blinked an eye. And there are far bigger issues to worry about in society than this.”

GTA 5 will come out in Spring 2013 and you can be sure that the disc won’t contain any such material i.e if Rockstar doesn’t want to pay more fines.
