Ubisoft has announced that it is working with the French government on a new gameplay engine for the next gen, which is currently under the working title of Mango. Ubisoft is working with Atomic Energy and Alternative Energies Commission (CEA) and the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS),.

Development on Mango will cost €14 million over a period of approximately 22 months, starting now, and the French government will be funding €3.5 million of it.

Ubisoft’s Montpellier and Montreal studios are going to be working with researchers from LIRIS-CNRS (Computing Laboratory in Image and Information Systems) and the CEA too.

The Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot says that this will help with exposure of France as well, and he thinks it is imperative that the development is done here.

Also, new engine! Yay! Hopefully, we’ll be seeing Far Cry games and Assassin’s Creed games running on this project Mango.
