Cliffy B says Bulletstorm wasn’t marketed right

"People didn't see a cool sci-fi game", thanks to the marketing.

When most of us think of Bulletstorm, we think of kicking people in the nuts, or big bulky guys swearing all over the place, and crass humour dominating the experience. Well, ex-Epic Games man Cliff Bleszinski (oh, you don’t know him? Ok, then) says that that is all because of the marketing, which, he admits, was a mistake.

When asked on Twitter if he thought the humour in Bulletstorm was a “weakness” and if it would have sold better if it weren’t for the “creative cursing”, Bleszinski said that the game was actually rather good, but that it got screwed over due to the way it was marketed.

“Promoting crassness was a mistake,” Bleszinski tweeted. “Marketing latched onto it; people didn’t see a cool sci fi game, they saw “the dicktits game.””

The marketing did turn plenty of people off, and the game was actually pretty game. It’s a shame.
