Grand Theft Auto 5 was recently delayed from its Spring release to a release on September 17, and this announcement has not been met with a lot of praise.

In the official Rockstar post’s comments section, people have been cooking up all sorts of conspiracy theories as to why the game was actually delayed. Rockstar, however, says that there’s only one reason for the delay, and that’s to make the game better.

“We understand many of you guys are disappointed with this news,” Rockstar said. “Unfortunately sometimes such delays are necessary in all forms of entertainment, and especially in the case of a game experience as massive and complex as GTAV. However this does not give you free reign to be abusive in comments.”

“Also: To those of you saying or seeing various conspiracy theories about there being some other ulterior motive for this delay, rest assured that they’re all nonsense,” the publisher continued. “Literally the only reason we’ve delayed the release is because we want the game to be as good as it needs to be.”

Grand Theft Auto 5 was originally supposed to be released in Spring of 2013, but will now come out on September 17th for the Xbox 360 and PS3. Stay tuned for more updates.
