Japanese daily Asahi has claimed that the PS4 will cost 40,000 yen, and will be released later this year in US and Japan. Asahi also reports that the console will be revealed on February 20.
The 40,000 yen pricing is interesting since it is approximately $430 when converted into dollars. This can’t be used as the western pricing because it could be slightly expensive than the Japanese cost so maybe it will retail at $500.
According to a Nikkei translation by Gematsu, it has been mentioned that the console will offer full downloadable games. Sony acquired the company last year for $380 million.
There won’t be any Cell chip in the PS4, so backward compatibility is suspect, however Gaikai is expected to fill this deficiency. It could be one of the reasons why Sony acquired the company.
Nikkei’s report also mentions of a share feature which was somewhat reported earlier, and it will allow users to exchange messages.
