Media Create has released the latest sales charts for hardware sales in Japan. As with last week, the Nintendo 3DS and 3DS XL stayed on top with the PS3 occupying the third position and the Wii U following behind.
The intriguing part is that sales have actually risen for both the 3DS XL and 3DS. Whereas the previous week saw the former with 51,654 units sold and the latter with 26,028 units sold, this week’s sales indicate sales of 89,050 units and 38,645 units respectively.
That’s pretty almost a 50% increase for the 3DS LL and almost 25% more for the 3DS.
By contrast, the PS3 saw a decrease in sales with 17,004 units sold compared to 18,106 sold last week. The Wii U also sold slightly less with 12,185 units this week.
Unsurprisingly, the Xbox 360 continues to slide downwards with 593 units sold this week compared to 870 units sold last week. Given that there won’t be any exclusive titles and that many Japanese developers have stopped shipping Xbox 360 versions of their games in Japan, one wonders how much longer Microsoft’s console can last.
