Nvidia and Crystal Dynamics working together on a Tomb Raider fix for GeForce owners

Issues will be addressed soon.

The long awaited Tomb Raider reboot has finally arrived on shores and has made quite a splash. Unfortunately, Nvidia graphic card owners are experiencing performance and stability issues when they crank up the details. AMD cards on the other hand have no such hurdles, not surprising considering you see their logo when you boot up their game. However, Nvidia fans can rest as ease, has the issues have been acknowledged and Nvidia is working with Crystal Dynamics to deliver a fix soon.

“We are aware of major performance and stability issues with GeForce GPUs running Tomb Raider with maximum settings,” explained Nvidia’s Andrew Burnes in a comment on the GeForce website. Unfortunately, NVIDIA didn’t receive final game code until this past weekend which substantially decreased stability, image quality and performance over a build we were previously provided. We are working closely with Crystal Dynamics to address and resolve all game issues as quickly as possible.

Please be advised that these issues cannot be completely resolved by an NVIDIA driver. The developer will need to make code changes on their end to fix the issues on GeForce GPUs as well. As a result, we recommend you do not test Tomb Raider until all of the above issues have been resolved.

You can probably expect an update in a day or two. In the meantime, if you’re experiencing low frame rates, we highly recommend disabling the TressFX setting as it has a major toll on performance, on both AMD and Nvidia cards. You can check out our review of the reboot here.
