Xbox One platform architect, Marc Whitten, revealed that the Xbox One’s DVR will have a fixed playback of 30 frames per second, and 720p resolution regardless of the native settings of whichever game it is recording. One of the Xbox One’s most noted features, the in-system DVR will record the last five minutes of game play for any gamer, and will allow Xbox Gold members to stream live game play to Twitch.

Whitten commented, “Game DVR captures beautiful clips at 720p 30fps. The first thing you’ll see with our game DVR is the integration of our Upload service on the console.”

Whitten also spoke about where your recorded game play will be accessible in the Xbox One menu:

“You’ll be able to see these clips in the Xbox One Guide, in your own game DVR collection, and when you are looking at gamercards on the system. You’ll also see games take advantage of this platform capability and do interesting things to integrate captured game footage into the game experience itself.”

It appears that Microsoft is confident a fixed frame rate will have little to no effect on the successful implementation of their gameplay recording schematic. What do you think?
