Morrigan was a fan favorite character in Dragon Age: Origins, thanks to her rather, er, shapely appearance; however, in the upcoming Dragon Age: Inquisition, which looks to be a return to form for the series, she will not be a playable character at all.
In spite of this, she has a very important role to play in the story:
“It is fair for people to understand that she will not be a party member. That’s going to disappoint some people,” Dragon Age director Mike Laidlaw said, “but it’s important for us to be upfront about that.”
“It’s not a cameo,” added writer David Gaider. “She plays a significant role.”
Eurogamer speculates that her story might have to do with the child of the Old One that she conceived in Origins, but Bioware are being coy.
“Morrigan has a human role in this plot,” said Gaider, “which may surprise some people because they might only think of her as a plot device. She has this big plot she’s involved in, and while that’s true to an extent, I’m taking her to a human place. That will make sense after the fact.”
They also revealed that how her story plays out will depend on how close she was to your character in Origins.
Dragon Age: Inquisition hits the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC next year.
