Development on the PC and Xbox One versions of the upcoming EA release, Titanfall, are already underway by developers Respawn Entertainment. However, development for an Xbox 360 version will be handled by an external studio, which has been “hand picked” by the team over at Respawn.
EA commented, “The 360 version of Titanfall is being developed by an independent studio hand picked by Respawn. The two studios are working closely to ensure the two versions are both delivered at the same level of polish and quality that fans expect.”
The multiplayer focused debut title from Respawn will be a Microsoft exclusive release. Interestingly. EA Games executive Frank Gibaeu explained why TitanFall is a Xbox One exclusive:
“One of the things that struck me this week is how a tactical deal with one of our platform partners has been blown out and perceived as strategic tilt – that’s a messaging error on our part. There is no strategic tilt. The Sony platform and the Xbox platform are both very important to us. If you look at the previous generation we did tactical deals with both Sony and Microsoft throughout the cycle. Titanfall is different, it’s an EA Partners game – everything else is platform agnostic.”
