ps4 amdEver since the PlayStation 4 was showcased at this year’s E3, Sony executives like Shuhei Yoshida and Shahid Kamal have taken to Twitter to answer questions directly from the community. Shuhei Yoshida, President of Worldwide Studios for Sony Computer Entertainment has revealed some interesting tid-bits regarding the upcoming next generation console.

The original PlayStation Portable is Sony’s most successful handheld device which is currently enjoying a bigger user base than its successor, the PlayStation Vita. It is a well known fact that users can remote play PS4 games on their PS Vita but unfortunately, those looking to do the same on the PSP are out of luck. Yoshida confirmed that they have no plans to release a new firmware update that will add that functionality. Considering that the PSP may not be powerful enough to handle it and how the PS Vita was designed from the beginning (according to Sony) to work in conjunction with the PS4, this is understandable.

Yoshida also addressed concerns of being unable to switch off the DualShock 4’s light bar and how the light can probably reflect off of the screen during gameplay. According to Yoshida, the chances of this happening are rare as the LED is angled down.

He also confirmed that they are trying to launch the PlayStation App in North America before the launch of PS4. Head here to learn more about the app and how its second screen functionality will come in handy when the PS4 launches. Finally he confirmed that the campaign for Knack, a PS4 launch title developed by chief system architect Marky Cerny, will last more than 10 hours. Yoshida stated that it took him a little more than that to complete it, so it’s as good an estimate as any.

The PlayStation 4 will be launching in North America on November 15th and in Europe on November 29th, with a launch in Asia set for December 2013 and a Japanese launch due on February 22nd 2014.
