Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs, indisputably one of the most anticipated releases of this year, is nearing completion, and the publisher is now willing to talk more about the stunning looking game that will sign off this generation of consoles while also ushering in the new one.

For the next generation of consoles, Watch Dogs creative director Jonathan Morin confirmed to VideoGamer that the game would be running at a frame rate of 30FPS, in order to ensure steadiness.

“Right now the frame rate we’re focussing on is a steady 30 frames per second,” said Morin. “There’s always a balance, especially for open world, between the simulation and the rest.

“I think for where we are, the most important thing is the steadiness and [ensuring] that it’s always capped the same so when you play it it feels right.”

This would be slightly easier to digest if were at least assured 1080p as the game’s native resolution, but unfortunately, Morin was unable to oblige.

He also confirmed to VideoGamer that the game’s Xbox 360 version would ship on two discs, ‘just like GTA 5.’

“Yes, there are two discs,” he said. “It’s the same thing as GTA 5.”

The Xbox 360 should be the only platform which ships with two discs- the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One all use Blu Rays, while the Wii U uses a proprietary disc format that allows 25GB of storage per layer.

Speaking of the WIi U version of the game to Eurogamer, Morin confirmed that it would definitively look better than the Xbox 360 and PS3 builds, but not as good as the Xbox One and PS4 builds, and that it is expected to be closer to the former than the latter. This essentially falls right in the ballpark of the Wii U’s estimated power.

“I think it’s even going to be a bit better. If you pump the PC to its maximum there are things in the filtering and rendering that I think are possible on high-end PCs that are pretty amazing. Wii U is pretty much in-between – it’s neither of them, not current-gen, maybe closer to current-gen than next-gen.”

Watch Dogs launches on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC later this year. Stay tuned.
