SimCity Train Station Model Shows Up As ‘Proof of Concept’ of Modding Potential

Amidst Maxis’ discussions for the future of the troubled game SimCity, which included the age old question of whether tools should be made available to modders, oppie65, a veteran modder for SimCity 4, has made an impressive model of a central train station as a ‘proof of concept,’ reports PCGamesN.

“I’m very proud to release the first true custom building model; a Central Train Station loosely based on a design I created for SimCity 4 back in the day,” wrote oppie85 on the SimCity Reddit.

“This is a proof-of-concept for the idea that we can eventually create custom models of similar quality to the ones we made for SimCity 4. Frankly this one still has a few rough edges, but consider that it’s only the first – as I improve the process of creating buildings further they can only become more detailed and more impressive.”

The rough edges include the fact that the model seems to exceed its lot size, or that its capacity remains identical to other train stations available in the game. Nonetheless, he is correct, it is an impressive achievement.
