Open beta now available for all Steam users.

Steam
In an interesting announcement, Valve Software has announced the launch of Steam Reviews, which allows users to write reviews for games on Steam. These reviews can be from friends and other community members, and you can also comment on reviews to decide which ones are the most helpful. Your reviews will also be viewed by the entire community.

Meant as an evolution of the Recommendation system, Valve has revealed that over 7 million Recommendations have been written for Steam games since then. Considering that amount of trouble and controversy user reviews have brought upon sites such as Metacritic (especially when it comes to console exclusives), there are bound to be some troubles. Those who have created Recommendations can now have them visible as Reviews.

Steam Reviews are currently in open beta and can be accessed by any Steam user currently. How will it fare over the next few months? We’ll find out. Tell us your thoughts on Steam Reviews in the meantime.
