Sony Exec Cries At South Korean PS4 Launch

Shrio Kawauchi gets emotional.

Posted By | On 18th, Dec. 2013

Earlier tonight (depending on your time zone) in South Korea, Shiro Kawauchi, the head of Sony Computer Entertainment Korea was moved to tears at the country’s PlayStation 4 launch event. Speaking at first in Japanese, his native language, Kawauchi thanked fans for showing up to the event despite a number of setbacks the release has seen and the extreme cold.

“I truly thank you for coming out today in this cold weather, I love you all. Please show your love for PlayStation 4 as well. Thank you!”,  said Kawauchi.

Odds are that the Kawauchi’s emotional response to the launch event is fueled by some external factors. Some possibilities are the huge prevalence of PC gaming in South Korea (Starcraft is their national sport after all), or possible the ongoing situation between Japan and South Korea, which seen a decline in the relationship of the two countries.

No matter what the cause is, it was a truly moving thing to witness.
