For some time now Oculus Rift has been the only name in virtual reality gaming. Well, as of this year’s Computer Electronics Show, it appears that Oculus Rift has some competition. Namely, the GameFace Mark IV is an all-new virtual reality headset.

The GameFace Mark IV is android-based virtual reality technology and features a standalone Bluetooth headset, which, for their proof of concept, was 3D printed. Again, the major difference here between Oculus Rift and GameFace: Mark IV is that the latter is completely standalone. That means no wires.

Linking up to a DualShock 3 controller at CES 14, testers were able to utilize the headset’s three side buttons to jump seamlessly around between different gaming demos. According to testers, standing up while wearing the headset was quite disorienting, as one would imagine.

GameFace plans to make their Mark IV headset available for retail purchase by the end of 2014. Stay tuned to Gamingbolt for updates as the two VR headsets start to compete.
