Sony Rumored To Purchase Nintendo DRAM Manufacturing Plant

According to rumors from a number of sources, Sony has been reported to be towards the end stages of negotiation in purchasing the plant that is responsible for the manufacture of Nintendo’s DRAM chip, which can be found in the Wii U. According to various sources, the proposed deal is said to be valued at seven billion yen.

According to Dualshockers, this deal has been in the works for quite some time, following the decision from Nintendo to divert their focus and start working towards expanding their mobile platform, which at this point in time is almost nonexistent.

Sony on the other hand, after the deal goes through is planning to invest another 20 million yen into production, as well as take on some of the staff that is currently working there. Reports are that Sony’s main use of the plant will be to up the production of their CMOS smartphone sensor.
