Say what you will about where he’s brought the company but you can’t Nintendo president Satoru Iwata for wanting to do everything possible to make up for it. After vowing to not resign until the company has gotten out of its rut following a projected $335 million loss, Iwata has now sworn to take a 50 percent salary cut for five months in order to compensate for poor profits in the past 9 months.

Nintendo’s most recent financial report indicated that the Wii U only sold 2.41 million units in the past 9 months with a 30 percent drop in profits during the same period. Iwata will be taking a pay cut in order to compensate for the same and also revealed that board members for Nintendo will also take salary cuts from between 20 to 30 percent.

Though not the first time Iwata took a pay cut, the current financial state of Nintendo is extremely telling at this time. Maybe it’s time to reconsider not bringing its franchises to mobile? Let us know what you think in the comments.
