With the next generation of consoles, there’s been a very high, if somewhat unrealistic, demand for all games to be at 1080p resolution and run at 60 frames per second. After all, with all the supposed power they’re touting, doesn’t it make sense to go with the most fluid motion in the sharpest arrangement of pixels possible?

Get Even lead designer and The Farm 51 director of development Wojciech Pazdur is a bit unsure about the 60 FPS part. Given the importance of 1080p/60 FPS for next gen games, we asked if the studio would be able to hit the same requirements on the PS4 and Xbox One with Get Even.

Pazdur responded that, “Technology fully allows for it, but I’m not sure if we’ll be pushing this direction. I’ve already played Get Even in 60 FPS even on not so powerful PC rigs, and have to say, that feeling is a little bit…odd. Cause of extreme realism of environments, the final effects leads to concerns similar to high frame rate perception issues in 48 FPS movies or TV broadcast series and makes the scene look a little bit unreal. We have to address it, anyway.”

Remember when The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey released in select theaters at 48 FPS (the usual cinema standard being 24 FPS) and it was quickly criticized for looking phony and just plain jarring? Odds are that The Farm 51 feels the same way about Get Even. Nonetheless, it will be intriguing to see if they end up with the same frame rate when the game releases for Xbox One, PC and PS4.
