The rumour mill has been going crazy ever since it was announced that Sony Santa Monica,, had cancelled one of their projects (a new IP) and had laid off fifty people as a result, some of whom were veterans at the development team. There has been no official word from Sony on any of it yet, but we might have some information for you. Be warned though, this is completely unverified information that you should all take with a grain of salt.

NeoGAF user DemonNite (no way to confirm his true identity), says that the project was on track as early as a week ago, before the layoffs, and that Sony was even preparing a teaser trailer for the game.

“A teaser was being prepared – so take whatever you want from that,” he said.

“I wouldn’t read too much into his comment about the SSM game to be honest,” he added later. “It was also still fully on track the other week so things change fast.”

He also said that we probably won’t ever see assets of the game. “That will never happen… unless an artist leaves it in their portfolio like Eight Days.”

Stay tuned for more updates.
