In a recent interview with Edge, the creative director of Watch_Dogs, Jonathan Morin stated that games are dumbed down so that developers can make more money. Many players and certain publications misunderstood what Jonathan actually meant. But again, who can blame them given Watch_Dogs’ graphics downgrade fiasco.

Jonathan clarified his statements on twitter, stating that he meant some games were merely made too simple for accessibility purpose. Watch Dogs is a pretty complex game given its hacking back ground and this is what exactly he was pointing out in his interview. “In that interview I was saying that games sometimes were very simple for accessibility sake (safer for market success).”

Furthermore, he stated that developers put in less features thinking that it will be too much for the players. “I think players can take more than what some people think. I simply think there’s a great place for sophistication in games.”

In short, his statements were not about graphical effects or vistas, it was purely related at a gameplay level.

Jonathan also revealed that Watch_Dogs is all about the little details and curiosity. “WD is all about curiosity and this idea to get sucked into details. You can play 20 min without moving,” he tweeted.

Watch_Dogs will release on May 27th for the PS4, PS3, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC. The Wii U version will release later on.
