Microsoft is about to release system updates for the Xbox One in the months of May, June and July, having already released one for the system in April itself, and Xbox Division head Phil Spencer says the June and July system updates are “looking good.”
“Monthly updates for June and July look really good,” Spencer tweeted. “Team is making good progress.”
When asked about what kind of upgrades and new features we might be seeing in the new system updates, Spencer did not reveal much. However, when asked if the updates would also bring an emulator for arcade games, he said that Microsoft was unwilling to try that right now, given their not so successful ventures in the same territory in the past.
“We kind of did that with Game Room on 360 and it surprised me but it wasn’t that successful,” he said.
Spencer also talked about “smaller games”, saying that they make the wait between AAA releases easier. “I get the idea and I agree getting more smaller games is a good thing for the platform,” he commented.
Looks like June’s going to be a particularly important month for the Xbox One, what with E3 coming up. Stay tuned and we will keep you updated.
