The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Delayed for Polishing, Not Creating New Content

Level designer Miles Tost says the developer wants fans to be satisfied with the result.

The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt

CD Projekt RED’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was supposed to be out this year for PS4, Xbox One and PC but it was since delayed to February 2015. In conversation with Power Unlimited, level designer Miles Tost spoke about why the game was delayed. His reasoning was simple: if they’re going to do it, they’re going to do it right.

“Essentially we get one shot to do The Witcher 3 right [and] we could have released the game this year but we wouldn’t be satisfied with the result and fans wouldn’t be as well. The additional time that we have is really something that we use for polishing and not for creating new content because that is mostly done.”

Tost also spoke about the different quests within the game. “We have an awesome story team that looks over all these things we make. When we create them (quests), they make sure they fit the story. Most of the people in the studio have read the books and are very familiar with what we want to create.

“We have plenty of reviews within the company of content where we try to make sure that something fits within the world and lastly, we do a lot of research as well.”

Will it be worth the delay? We’ll find out early next year.
