Mark Cerny, Sony’s legendary game developer, who brought us classics such as the original Crash Bandicoot (and more recently, the more middling PlayStation 4 launch title Knack), as well as Sony’s current generation hardware- the PlayStation Vita and the PlayStation 4- will be honored by being inducted as 2014’s Development Legend at the Develop Industry Excellence Awards in Brighton, UK on July 9th.

This is the highest honor received for anyone in the industry as far as the Develop Awards go- Previous recipients include the likes of Tim Sweeney, Mark Rein, David Perry, Peter Molyneux, David Braben, Charles Cecil, Phil Harrison and Ian Livingstone, all of whom have contributed to video games significantly.

Cerny has only just now started receiving the public spotlight, but he has had a prolific career. Apart from Crash Bandicoot, he also worked on uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, Ratchet and Clank, Killzone 3, Spyro the Dragon and Sonic the Hedgehog 2.
